MARTINHO

Antonio Martinho is a London based pianist and composer. His innovative and passionate nature has led him to craft compelling, unique and eloquent music compositions.


Martinho is a self-taught pianist, who began playing at the age of 6 years old. His passion for music developed further, when he studied classical, jazz and film music at University.

He soon began touring with eclectic jazz bands, playing at some of London’s most notorious venues including; ‘Ronnie Scotts’, ‘Jazz Café’ and ‘KOKO of Camden’ to name a few. He has made appearances on the BBC supporting artists as their main pianist, on ‘Later Live With Jools Holland’.

Martinho’s heritage has strong ties with his music, as he sights that Fado music’s dramatic, passionate and captivating melodies have influenced his music compositions greatly. Martinho’s composition style creates a hybrid of musical elements including Fado’s intensity and classical music’s sophistication and technical craftsmanship.    

Martinho has been focusing on several solo projects, and has spent time in the studio to record an album, which focuses on compositions for film and TV.

When I perform, I simply follow the music, and my heart; everything comes from me in a very natural way - it's not a show; and I believe in this way, it also touches the hearts of those in the audience.
